GAH-Alberts invests in the future

Herscheid. We celebrated the completion of the new logistics centre in the Friedlin industrial area with a genuine “Oktoberfest” on Saturday 17 September. The company director, Dietrich Alberts, took advantage of the festive event to announce that his son, Alexander, would be joining the company in 2017. Therefore, GAH-Alberts remains an owner-managed company in its fifth generation.

Space for the complete garden range

GAH-Alberts' complete garden range will soon be stored and picked in the new halls in the Friedlin industrial area. “This only offers advantages. We have one pick-up location, we avoid duplicate warehousing and therefore become more effective”, explains Dietrich Alberts. Until now, the extensive garden range was divided into two locations between Herscheid and Lüdenscheid

Space for future growth

After a one-year construction phase, the building complex, which covers 7,200 square meters, is now complete. Three hall bays have been built which can be used for many purposes. In addition, there are still reserves providing plenty of space for future growth, explained Dietrich Alberts. Sections of the construction project were recorded by Carsten Engel with the aid of his camera drone. The time-lapse clip which lasts approx. five-minutes was met with great applause. After a one-year construction phase, the building complex, which covers 7,200 square meters, is now complete.

GAH experts from Logistics, Sales, Marketing and Controlling worked with a construction company to develop a logistics concept for the new building, capable of covering all current and future factors which influence logistics while, at the same time, implementing them in an affordable way. In addition to storage space, the new facility also includes offices and social areas, parking spaces for personnel, and corresponding truck parking and manoeuvring areas. The vacant areas of the other hall will be used by GAH-Alberts to store the steadily increasing range of profiles and sheets.

Alexander Alberts gains practical experience at Proctor & Gamble

Our colleagues and their families were invited to celebrate the completion along with employees of companies involved in the construction as well as business partners. Dietrich Alberts took advantage of the event to announce his son's entry into the company to the over 1,000 guests. Over the past five years, Alexander Alberts (30) has been gaining practical experience at Proctor & Gamble in Frankfurt am Main. “As Category Manager, I am responsible for the Gillette brand in Germany and Austria”, he explained in an interview. On 1 September 2017, he will start at his parents' company, before taking residence in Lüdenscheid.
